Is there any difference between Payment Engine and Payment gateway?

Payment engine is a piece of software in a bank’s IT landscape that helps banks to send payments to other banks. It is basically used to process the payment and carries out the entire flow. 
Payment gateway is a software that helps merchants to get payments from the customer. Example. The page in amazon where you make the payment. There are several options like cards, net banking etc…..
